I've got some seriously mixed opinions of twitter today!

A very kind gesture from Mr Zac Efron who wished my daughter a happy birthday and pretty much made her year! The look on her face as I showed her the tweet was genuinely one of my favourite moments in well, ever.

On the other hand, I've just read who the final twelve are going to be in X-Factor completely ruining both shows for me this weekend! That I could have lived without! That said, i suppose it was my own fault, i'm the one that clicked on the link marked "Spoiler - X Factor Final 12 revealed! I'm shocked at who Cheryl Cole picked!

Still, i won't spoil it for you by telling you who got through...unless of course you want me to?

Jordan defeats Katie Price!

This one definitely fits into the things you can live without category.

Jordan appears to have killed off her Katie Price persona once and for all. You can see her here celebrating her victory.

It's really an image taken from her night out watching current boyfriend (mixed martial arts "star") Alex Reid win some title.

Shy and demure as ever, Jordan got as involved as much as possible without actually throwing any punches. Can't quite make out what her slogan t-shirt reads but I suspect its probably along the lines of "The Chav".

Doing her bit for setting back women's rights 100 years, Jordan's claim that she was raped several years ago, has taken on the sheen of a soap opera cliffhanger. I think its fair to say that the Jordan side of her Jeckyl and Hyde personality is in the ascendancy.

Public perception seems to be turning against her though, people liked Katie, they don't much care any more for Jordan.

My guess is that we won't be seeing Katie again until that negative public opinion starts hitting her in the wallet.

Skyscraping The Bottom Of The Barrel!

Straight in today with a pet peeve of mine, in the things you can live without is skyscrapper stiletto's - with both Victoria Beckham and SJP turning heads (and possibly their own ankles) in them, I feel it's important to be clear on what they represent. 1. Painful feet and 2. You don't have a man but you want one.

Also getting my coat (sp) is stretch sateen, for the unfamiliar, that's a shiny, taught fabric that accentuates every single lump and crevice. Yuk!

Sarah Palin - the right women for the job. If the job is skinning a moose and shooting an abortion doctor, that is.

Skulls and Crossbones - Done to death. They need to R.I.P. for a while. Halloween is of course exempt.

Dark Mornings - They're only good for one thing. Hiding the fact that you've worn one of the above!

On the positive side, there are some stuff, I think it'd be had to live without this week!

Corduroy Trousers - perfect for the very up-to-th-minute collegiate trend!

Mid Calf Length Cowboy Boots - Shoes Life indeed. Once you slip on these babes, you become a sexy hot cowgirl. Yea hah!

Red - Totally hot right now, and adorning the celebrity flesh out in Hollywood.

Sequinns - Ok. Ok. I give in, i've been beaten into submission by those determined little sparklers!

Central Heating - gives us the option of wearing just one layer of clothing.

Its been a sunny day so lets start with the positives...the things you can't live without!

Huge Cuff Bracelets - Teamed with glam rags are worthy of the red carpet this season.

Bodice Topped Dresses - Pushes you up and pulls you in, in all the right places! Just make sure you order the right size!

Big Checks - I said checks not cheques! Going bigger and better on the man shirt, this season bigger is better!

Scarves - Go crazy in any shade, style or fabri this autumn, all scarves are hot!

Being the Last Girl Dancing - Our new range of tees in the UK shop (coming soon in the US store as well).

And the things you can live without?

Mini Pencil Skirts! - I'm taking a wild guess that the whole slutty sexretary (sp) look won't go down too well at the school playground! And yes the pun was intended!

Power Couples - Brangelina are rated number 1...you've got to think given their ethics that they've got to hate that pretentious title!

Trumpet Sleeves - Big wafty mother-flappers of a fashion nightmare!

Wasps - One minute you look devine, the next you're doing a Pheobe run in the playground away from those yellow and black tyrants!

Well, that happened to me last week! This celeb (who shall remain nameless!) is apparently a big fan of our Karma Suits Ya t-shirt and requested that we develop a comment on the amount of press intrusion she receives...here's the result

I admit, it's sort of a niche market...but you never know - perhaps it'll bring out the inner celeb in all of us!

Back in Blighty after a brief sojourn over to Florida...If you've never done Disney, then I can heartily recommend it! I'll do a full blog on our Florida excusion at some point but for now, colour me impressed!

For now, I want to concentrate on those items that you can and can't live without this week.

You can't live without:

Tank Tops - In a light weight knit, over vests or tees are geek chic of choice! Check out the Burberry number opposite!

A-live lace dresses - Are hitting Hollywood Big Style...word of advice, make sure it's lined!

Cerise - That vivid '80's colour is back and is quickly reclaiming its street cred.

Panama Wicker Hats - You don't need sunshine to wear these, you just need style.

Fab Memories - Are priceless, and are something no-one can ever take away from you!

Live Without -

Animal Print - It's now off-limits for garments although we can make allowances for shoes or accessories.

Patchwork Bermudas - Over the pond, they seem to be gathering an awful lot of momentum...we Brits are far too sensible for that...aren't we?

Gillets - Time to deflate these puffa wannabees and put the sleeveless wonders away til autumn.

Bling - Has recently moved aside for ethnic/boho style jewellry, how very civil of it!

Regret - One life, go do something great with it!

Hi again! I thought it safest to avoid my husband screaming at the referee in the Arsenal Liverpool soccer match and add a few more items to my things you can't live with and things you can't live without lists!

Things you can't live without!

The Casual Cardi - This is a hard one to pull off, but worth the effort, go for relaxed knit, not belted, fitted tapered or shaped. Just hang loose man!

Legs - Are back, so its ok to get them out as long as they've been tended and pimped in prep for their 08 debut.

Different Coloured Lapels - from the rest of the garment, if you want to be "Little Miss Sharpe" lapel it up.

Banana - The colour, not the phallic shaped fruit has real appeal (sorry!) This shade of yellow will put a smile on your face!

High School Musical 3 - If you want your kids to think you're cool, its time to get your head in the game...again!

On to the things you can live without...

Frilly Filly's - The little Bo Peep look has never and will never, be fit for anything other than panto!

Hollywood Double Date Info - Who cares if Posh and Becks pair up with Kate Beckinsdale and hubby. Unless its a mixed tag match at Wrestlemania, we don't want to know.

Wonky Hair - Lopsided, big bubble hair is not hot. E news that had to be an April Fool Joke right?

Favouritism - "Bread" the jean maker has just designed maternity jeans for Angelina after being contacted by her stylist. Hey, what about the rest of the world's women with child?

The Spiderwick Chronicles - The 'trapped nerve in the neck' look I'm rocking right now after visiting this jump-fest of a movie is not one of my best....

Fashion - It's Simply Not Cricket!

Spring is in the air, so I feel like starting on a positive note today!

The things you can't live without!

Belted Spring Jackets - Black is the colour being sported out in Hollywood, simple, clean lines work everytime.

Bright Coloured Shoes - Any block toned shoe style goes this month, to go with our lighter, brighter spring mood.

Halo Hair - You know the kind that has a gentle tousled fliffiness that catches the sunlight - hence halo effect.

Oriental Patterns - Are heading up the print list, mainly on drapey style garments.

Live And Let Live Mentality - Why are there not more people sharing this not so uptight view of the world???

Things you can live without.

Cricket Sweaters - Not sure the pro's that fact that we can't differentiate between them and the general public.

Black Pumps - Are to their own funeral this season, as we are done with secretary chic.

Techno Fashion - In an ironic twist, futuristic garments have had their day!

Tiny Clutch Bags - Surely these are just purses with a superiority complex, and a hefty price tag...nice try!

Drama Chasers - Women who can't exist without drama, be it their own or somebody elses.

Posh, Cheryl and Going Nude!

The Ashley and Cheryl Cole story is dominating the tabloids....they seem to have settled on a theme, that being "Is Ashley Cole Insane?" One element that interested me though was the Victoria Beckham angle on it and specifically the advice Posh gave the former Miss Tweedy of Girls Aloud fame...interested me enough for it to make my "Things you can live without" list anyhow! Seriously, how would having a family with that Arsenal leaving love rat provide a child with a secure upbringing?

Rainbow Coloured Shoes - Also earning my ire this week, reserved for Rainbow Brite methinks, shield your eyes from this glaring fashion faux pas!

Tye Dye - We all got that out of our systems when we were skint fashion students, to go back now eould be regressive!

Embellishments - On garments or accessories are off limits now until next christmas. Save them for the tree.

Irresponsible dog owners - We don't like to see our designer shoes decorated with dog excrement, so pick it up!

With that out of my system, I can concentrate on the items you can't live without!

Pastel Shades - As in sunglasses, will be the ray-bans of choice this summer.

Sling Backs - The shoes you watched your mum traipse around in when you were young and now back, so get raiding her closet.

Going Nude - Not literally, but wearing the new shade for this season is nearly as good as baring sexy flesh!

Tees - Are being sported by models already for the better weather spring brings. Slogan tees of of course tops!

Sunshine - After a recent taster, i could go for the main course!

Bold Black and White Check - 1950's inspired dresses for spring/summer will have us making our own lemonade, and speaking with a deep Southern drawl.

Cheerleader Chic - For a naughty sporty look...but leave the pom poms at home.

Planning '08 Adventures! - Keep your adrenaline pumping by organising the next big thing!

Purple Suede Accessories - Give me blue suede shoes anyday, but the purple i can leave!

Paris Hilton Producing Movies - As in "The Hottie and the Nottie". Her acting career never really took off, so this pushing the boat out a tad.

Leather Skirts - I don't care whether they are fitted or loose, they're just wrong on so many different leathery levels.

Fringes - Time to start growing them out girls...fashion turnaround is fair play.

What can you live without this week?

Wrestling Boots - As a fashion statement for us ladies...they should get the Smackdown before this look even takes off.

Britney's Airtime - Considering how little she does to entertain in a positive way - she and her dire situation is still being rammed down our throats.

Bracelet Bags - Great idea in principle, lousy in reality. These appendages attached to bangles, look cheap.

Electric Blue Spandex - Seriously, these don't look good on anyone. Not even Kate Moss could work this look.

Charlize Theron - Talented, beautiful, humble and my husband adores her. I'd love to hate her, but I can't!

And the things you can't live without.

Royal Blue Eyeliner - Go. Get. Some.

Flesh Coloured Shoes - Especially heeled ones. Anything that makes your legs look longer is ok by me!

Abstract Print - Anything you look at and don't understand on a garment is cool, simple really.

Sundance Film Festival - Gives credit to some real little movie diamonds.

Heath Ledger - Found dead only 28 years young. This talented actor will be sadly missed and our hearts go out to his two year old daughter.

A Belated Happy New Year From All At Queen of Suburbia

Firstly i'd like to say sorry that we're already on the 14th Jan and this is my first post of the year! It was an incredibly busy Christmas and New Year period here at Queen of Suburbia Fashion and 2008 has just been more of the same! That said, i've got some things you can't live with and some things you can't live without, all tee'd up and ready to go!

You can't live with......

Toga Dresses! - Looking like you've just wrapped yourself up in the bed sheets is a bad way to start 2008 or any other year for that matter (except maybe 100 B.C - everyone did it then.)

Zanessa - The Effron /Hudgens alliance has everyone asking "will it last?" THEY ARE KIDS FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE - let them lose the acne before we have them married off!

False Eyelashes - It seems the mega super lash builder mascara's that turns your lashes into the density of a small oak tree are no longer enough...now we are supposed spend 20minutes fiddling with falsies before the school run? I'll pass if its all the same to you.

Red - Can I please remind everyone that Christmas is over. Thankyou.

More Than One Fitness DVD - Save the money, or better yet, spend it on shoes!

As for the things you can't live without....

Slogans, Logos, and Printed Tee's - Yes the casual favourite is back in 2008, but remember, the Queen still rules!

Golden Globe Awards - All but cancelled due to the writers strike, it doesn't help the celebs clamour for glamour does it?

Emerald Green - For a fresh new start, sport this vivid shade and make onlookers green with envy!

Dainty Jewellery - Out with the chunky appendages, (i mean, who really wants to look like they are on day release) and in with the kind of gold, flisy girlie pieces that a man would buy you as a gift.

A Fashion Spring Clean - Anything not worn this century should be donated to the needy.

Fall From Grace

As promised we've got a new format for the Queen of Suburbia blog. Rather than posting weekly, we've decided to blog on a daily basis.

We've decided to start with Miss Sophie Anderton as one of the things you can live without. Tales of prostitution and drugs complete her fall from grace. This is an ego-maniac who needs to sort herself out.

On the positive side, with Christmas just around the corner, you can't live without a little bit of embellishment on your dress. December is just about the only month you can get away with it, so embellish away! Pictured below is Kiera Knightly who accessorised her aubergine Vera Wang gown with a vintage 1960s Bulgari necklace. The rest of us mere mortals in suburbia may have to make do with Topshop accessorised with accessorise though!!

New Face Of Versace - Mr Patrick Dempsey...a classy choice one thinks.

Cream - The colour, not that delicious and naughty treat that gets us salivating. Wear it as evening wear...the colour not the treat.

Berets - Big knitted ones that will keep your noggin snugly and give you that extra fashionable edge.

T-Bar Shoes - Any colour goes this season and are multifunctional as day wear with jeans and your queen of suburbia t-shirt or as evening wear with a special dress.

Lots of Christmas Invites - To parties and functions make it more festive.

Sadly there are plenty of things you can live without!

Spice Girl Hoax - Now it wasn't very nice to re-arrange their tour schedule without their knowledge now was it?

Celebs Visiting Chopville - If the continue hacking of their tresses at the rate they are, there will be no more long haired starlets left!

Bandage Dresses - Look painful, and do you really want to see butt cheeks wrestling each other for space?

Sequined Wedge Heels - Belong on Broadway, not down your local.

Unnecessary Spending - Donate it to the unfortunate this season rather than overspending for the sake of it.

Fuchsia Eye Make-up - Gives you the appearance of someone fresh from a smack in the socket.

A Mum Like Britney - Those poor little boys will have very weird childhood memories of their mother. Her irresponsibility is a very scary thing.

Exclusion - I'm not talking about kids and school. I'm talking mums in the playground. Now, now play nicely!

Asymmetrical Dresses - Look like the designer ran out of fabric and was too cheap to fetch some more!

Halloween Fashion - Is dangerous when it creeps into a victims regular wardrobe!

It was always my intention to use this blog as more than just a place to air my views on fashion, celebrity, society and the like. I felt it could be more than that...a place where I could talk about how Queen of Suburbia grows, the kind of things we get involved in and hopefully get you involved in our brand.

So, true to my word, I'm pleased to announce that we've now grown to the point where we have opened up our online store to US customers. Below you'll see our latest press release announcing this. Hopefully you'll soon be seeing it everywhere!!

Slogan T-Shirts like "Face Lifting isn't Exercise" and "Flattery Operated" from English T-Shirt Designer Queen of Suburbia are now avialable in the USA.

Headed up by designer Danielle Tomkinson, Queen of Suburbia has shot to European prominence with her range of T-Shirts influenced by politics amongst school mothers.
Danni worked for several prominent fashion houses in late 90's London but left the big city lights for suburbia where she had her two children. Whilst design remained a hobby, it seemed like her high flying career was a thing of the past until she found an unlikely muse in the school playground.

The politics amongst the mothers in the schoolyard fascinated Danni and soon she was designing again. This time, rather than suits for Paul Smith or dresses for 1647 it was slogan t-shirts that became the outlet for her creative talents.
"It was apparent through observing body language and the way the mothers interacted that all kinds of messages and truths were being revealed so I thought to myself why not make those messages a little more overt". explains Danni.
That spawned concepts such as "Flattery Operated" and "Manicure Depressive".

Queen of Suburbia started small but grew quickly, first local, then regional, national and Europe wide the witty arch and fashionable tees struck a cord and now finally demand from the US has reached such a level that Queen of Suburbia has opted to distribute in the US via her website http://www.queenofsuburbia.com

Oliver Martinez - If the rumours are true, then Kylie is taking care of business in her renowned classy manner. She deserves better.

Campaign To Pass Love On.

One of my favourite films is the movie "Pay It Forward". I like the sentiment that we should do good deeds not for what it nets us in return but because they in turn might do a good deed for someone else.

I liked that idea so much that it inspired my latest design. The Pass Love On t-shirt, here's a picture, it's now available on http://www.queenofsuburbia.com

It also inspired me to launch a campaign to enable people to do just that "pass love on". I thought the idea of people sending others love via email just because they felt like it was sort of cool, so we developed a campaign around it.

It's really simple all you have to do is enter the email address of the person you want to send it to and the system does the rest. It sends them a quick note telling them that they are loved and asks them to pass it on.

Hi again, a bumper edition today as I've got a few things to talk about and a "things you can and can't live without" section as well.

first up is an exclusive look at my new "Shoes Life" t-shirt, it's a play on the classic Choose Life shirt from the '80s. It might be the most "mainstream" t-shirt we've done at Queen of Suburbia to date, and already i've seen people asking about it on Yahoo Answers and it does seem to be stirring up quite a bit of media interest too! I'll keep you informed of any developments.

OK on to the things you can't live without.

1. The new Kleenex ad - Don't know whether it was PMT, but it certainly brought happy tears to my eyes!

2. The Golden Globes - Especially the Red Carpet for tips on glam fash and how to pose for the camera!

3. DIY Haircuts - For a touch of originality. So sick of the bog standard barnet of the moment!

4. Metallic Detail - A little shine goes a long way. Tune in tomorrow for pics of the new Queen of Suburbia Tee with silver text.

5. Cuddles - A neccesity on these depressing souless days.

Theres also a bunch of things you can live without.

1. Disappearing Hemlines - We've had the rise, so a fall is inevitable. Butts everywhere will rejoice!

2. David Beckham, the actor - Hearing that Mr Beckham has aspirations outside of the football field has left me feeling rather ill!

3. 70 mph winds - Rantehr annoying when they rip your fence panels off and turn your silky tresses into a beehive!

4. White Trousers - Only the hipless, buttless and gutless can carry off this look. That's me out then.

5. Celebrity Bodies - We know they exist under all that finery but do we really need to see every nook and cranny?

I've had a busy few days, and introduced some new designs.

I think metallics are set to be huge this summer, so you can now get a Queen of Suburbia with silver metallic text.

Then on top of that I've added the "Over the Hilton" t-shirt to the range. It's about time that the backlash against Paris started in earnest! And well, every movement needs a t-shirt doesn't it!

Berets - Instantly adds style to hangover hair. Good for delivering chic when you're feeling more freak!

Black and White Photo's - Especially at Christmas. Somehow they evoke more emotion - even you you take them half-cut!

Bugging us at the moment are Contradictory Magazines - On one page they're gushing about a trend on the next they're slagging it off! We have a nation of very confused women!

Theatrical fashions - Do we all really want to look like extras from a period drama? Or worse...Edward Scissorhands?

Hair Extensions - Learn the art of patience and grow your own hair. Plus extensions are now looking dated and you never know who it belonged too first!

Clutch bags - Means you only have one free hand at any given time, and who knows when you might need both!

Muddy Footprints - The ones that peer back at you from a muddy carpet are the worst.
